Waldorf Ways is a new initiative to meet the varied needs of families across the globe.
We are a Consortium of like-minded trained Waldorf Teachers who have come together with a shared passion to offer an authentic Waldorf education to families who are homeschooling or supporting their child’s Waldorf education at home.
All our teachers are experienced and qualified Waldorf Teachers who have worked in Waldorf Schools around the globe, as well offering Waldorf Education online.
We constantly strive to improve our practice so that we can offer the most authentic Waldorf lessons possible.
We know all families are different and our offering is carefully designed to meet the needs of individual families. Our offering includes the option to sign up for:
· A whole academic year of Main Lessons blocks for a full Waldorf Experience
· Maths and other specialist Subject Lessons
· Support for parents who are guiding their children at home - Waldorf Ways is a supportive community of like-minded families and teachers who are committed to children’s holistic, educational development. We’re looking forward to enriching your home programme with a wealth of elements of a comprehensive Waldorf approach - from celebrating festival to advice and guidance on child development.
Our teachers have spent a good deal of time exploring how we interact with children over the internet and how they learn best.
Waldorf Ways is focused on live, ‘face-to face’ teaching that relies on the interaction of pupils and teachers to achieve the most holistic learning possible.
It is abundantly clear to us that video or pre-recorded lessons fall short of the Waldorf teaching ethos to engage and interact with children. The act of simply watching a video is too passive - children are too easily distracted and not able to engage fully.
We know from experience that what works best is live, online sessions where the teacher engages with pupils face to face in real time. When we can see and hear each other we truly come together as a learning group, and as teachers are able to guide the children in their learning, working and understanding.
Crucial to this is the ability for Waldorf teachers to observe the children - both individually and as a group - so that we can use these observations to inform our preparation for the next day’s lesson.
We are also mindful of managing the amount of time pupils spend in front of screens, so our programmes keep screen time to a minimum that is appropriate to each age group.
